Fabulous day on the boardwalks. Too bad spring break is keeping visitors away because it’s just beautiful outside. Special today were seen a Vermillion Flycatcher, Wilson’s Snipe and the Sora.

Please join us on Wednesday March 24th at 3 pm when we will be showing the last of our John Bax films: “Backyard Treasures”. John Bax now lives in Port Isabel, but has been a world traveler and is an award winning nature videographer. He is well known for his high definition nature films, particularly those about birds and he will be here to answer questions and give comments about his film. Copies of the DVD's will be available for sale in our gift shop.
Saturday March 27 at 11:00 am Keith Hackland, birding guide extraordinaire, will be talking about Birding Optics – what to use and how to use it. He will also have some optics for sale after the program.
Tuesday March 30th is National Walk in the Park Day and all area World Birding Centers will be celebrating this day with nature walks and special events in our parks. The SPIBNC will provide a program on the current birds seen in our park and a bird walk to find them.
And Saturday April 10, at 11 am Dr. Luis Materon, professor at UTPA will wrap up our UTPA Natural Science Lecture Series with his presentation on Viruses and their Role in Nature.
Don't forget about our Birdwalks on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 am and again at 2 pm.
