Current Needs:

• Bird Habitat outside of the SPI BNC facility -- most especially, we need freshwater ponds and trees to attract birds.
• Bird Houses / hummingbird feeders / bat houses / seed / oranges /grapefruit
• Name plates/signs to identify native plants and trees.
• Computers – for Rare Bird Alert and other interactive bird and nature software use.
• Interpreters – on our boardwalks and onsite to explain the ecosystems to our visitors.
• Supplies for our “Kids Corner” – furniture, craft supplies, storage bins, etc.
• Lawn maintenance equipment (lawn mower, weed eater, extension cords, small ATV for trash pickup along boardwalks, lawn clippers, long-handled tongs to pick up trash, etc.)
• Volunteers to help in the gift shop, the Kid’s Corner, and to monitor and update our website as needed.

For those of you who do not have a lot of free time or maybe not the inclination to deal with people, you can still help.  We always have need for money and goods/supplies to help improve the Center.  We can accept donations through our non-profit (tax deductible!!) and/or you can become a Supporting or Life Member.  Please call the manager if you have any questions:  (956) 243-8179.

DO YOU HAVE ANY OLD BINOCULARS OR TELESCOPES THAT YOU DON'T USE ANYMORE?

Please consider donating them to the SPI BNC.  We sure could use them for school groups so the  students so they can really see the birds.  We could also use them as rental pairs for people who didn't bring any binoculars.

Just drop your binos/scopes off at the Information Desk.  If you'd like a receipt for your donation, just let us know.
