October Big Day & Habitat Drive
Early October brings the peak of fall bird migration through SPI! Enjoy a full day of birding alongside our naturalist as we aim to record as many species as possible from our back deck in efforts to raise funds to help preserve and create habitats on site! Bird with us or pledge $ to help!

About the Event
Here at the SPIBNC&AS, one of our main and constant objectives is to preserve and create habitat for migratory bird species! These habitats serve as important rest stops for birds in migration. Here they can find the food, water, and shelter they need to build up the energy to continue on their journeys.
Join our naturalists during the peak of fall migration as we bird from our back deck all day in efforts to record as many species as possible as we take part in "Global Big Day", a global effort to record as many bird species as possible in the world in a day!
As a non-profit organization, we need community support to be able to further preserve and create important habitat for these migratory birds, so we are also treating this day as a fundraiser. We are asking our supporters to pledge a monetary amount per bird species that we tally on this birding "Big Day' effort. The pledge donation can be as small as $.25 per bird or a max of $5 per bird. We can usually see up to 60-70 species during these efforts in this migration time of year.
