Bahia Grande Unit Spring Tour - B

This tour offers a special opportunity to visit and learn about the largest wetlands restoration project in the state through a tour  of the Bahia Grande Unit of the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, which is a unit that is not normally open to the public! Join one of our experienced guides for a chance at seeing some incredible STX wildlife symbolic of the coastal wetlands and praries such as; Aplomado Falcon, White-tailed Hawk, White-tailed Kite, Cassin's Sparrow, and a variety of wading birds!. 

We usually visit the Bahia Grande Unit during our Winter Wildlife Expo and now we are excited about the opportunity to see it in its spring glory! Join us for a fun spring tour and enjoy a beautifully scenic drive and a wide diversity of coastal flora and fauna! The spring season brings the prickly pear cacti and other coastal plants into colorful bloom, peak bird spring migration is coming through, resident breeding birds are singing and claiming territories, butterflies are on the wing, and reptiles are emerging from brumation! 

We'll be riding in style aboard a touring Mercedes Sprinter Van. Transportation provided by our friends at SPI Surf Shuttle. Tour leaves from and returns to the South Padre Island Birding Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary.

You can bring your own binoculars, or you may borrow a pair from us for you to use during the tour. Our guide will have a high quality spotting scope to share phenomenal views of the wildlife with tour participants. Bring your own water bottle and snacks. 

Tour goes out rain or shine. Be advised that the Bahia Grande tract is a wild and remote area without any restroom facilities. We will be stopping at a restroom just before and after the tour.

Cancellations must be done 4 days in advance for a 50% refund.
