WWE Bahia Grande Tour - 1

This tour offers a special opportunity to visit and learn about the largest wetlands restoration project in the United States through a tour of the Bahia Grande tract of the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, which is a tract that is not normally open to the public! Join one of our experienced guides for a chance to see some incredible STX wildlife symbolic of the coastal wetlands and prairies such as; the Aplomado Falcon, White-tailed Hawk, White-tailed Kite, Cassin's Sparrow, a variety of wading birds, shorebirds, waterfowl, and more! The trip conveniently leaves from and returns to the SPI Birding & Nature Center. 

This is a van tour with with only light walking involved on flat and maintained road. 

You can bring your own binoculars, or you may rent a pair from us for an additional $5 fee. Our guide will have a high-quality spotting scope to share phenomenal views of the wildlife with tour participants. Bring your own water bottle and snacks. 

Be advised that the Bahia Grande tract is a wild and remote area without any restroom facilities. We will be stopping at a restroom just before and after the tour.

This tour goes out rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather it will be postponed to Tuesday, Feb 13th. 

Cancellations must be done 4 days in advance for a 50% refund.
